Guys, Dress For Your Build

The three basic shapes of men are:

Inverted Triangle: This shaped man has broad shoulders, well-defined chest, a trim waist and narrow hips. To dress this shape, keep lines clean and sharp. Most suits will work for your and you can get away with wearing double-breasted suits. A pinstripe suite, with a plain crisp shirt will do the trick to show of your magnificent physique. Avoid bulky fabrics and remember to keep the cut clean and simple! For casual wear, show your wide shoulders and slim hips by wearing close fitting instead of baggy style clothes. Wear fitted trousers and shaped jackets in linen and denim but no chunky knit jerseys and oversized t-shirts. Famous man: Brian Habana.

Rectangle: If you have straight shoulders, straight torso with a flat stomach and bottom you have a rectangular shape. You can pretty much wear any kind of suit as long as it fits your body well and are not too big or straight a cut. Slightly shaped at the waist will add to your overall silhouette. Famous man: Tiger Woods

Rounded: You wear extra weight around your tummy area, have a flat upper chest and shoulders are slightly rounded. Best way to balance your proportions would be to wear softer tailored suits and loose-fit shirts. No hard lines or too close fitting tailored jackets. Choose your fabric carefully. Flannel, Wool/Lycra mix, wool and cashmere are most suited. Avoid horizontal striped ties. Famous man: Danny De Vito (short version)

Now lets have a look at body proportions to determine whether you should tuck in your casual shirts and t-shirts.

If you have a short body and long legs, lower the appearance of your waistline by:
o Wearing your shirts and t-shirts not tucked into trousers
o Wear turn-ups on trousers
o Wear tops that are one colour
o Wear casual jackets on the hipbone

If you have a long body and short legs, heighten the appearance of your waistline by:
o Tucking in your shirts and t-shirts
o Wear shorter hemlines if not tucked in
o Wear tops that are lighter or brighter than your trousers
o Wearing suits will also balance your proportions
o Avoid long jackets

And there you have it - the well-balanced and proportioned man! (Is this an oxymoron??) Kindly written for Hair Scope by Anneline Black.

Harley Davidson Clothes For Everyone

Over the past few decades, Hollywood and other forms of popular culture have been responsible for creating the figure of the the quintessential biker - a tough looking man, with a scruffy beard wearing full black leather jacket, pants, boots and helmet. This is an image which has become very popular over time, and it is one that is synonymous with Harley Davidson motorcycles.

However, it is more than just an image created by the movie makers - most Harley riders do actually dress like this. It is a look that is associated with 'being cool' and it has intrigued many people over the years, who have wondered where and how they can get their hands on this gear.

There are many stores in the United States, and around the world, that sell Harley Davidson clothes. In fact, wherever there is an authorized Harley Davidson dealer, you will most probably find someone selling their merchandise nearby.

Department stores often carry Harley Davidson clothes and official shops can be found across all states. However, if you cannot find a store local to you, there are several online shops that sell a range of gear, such as jackets, t-shirts, pants, patches and boots.

The official website has a heap of clothing, accessories, services and, of course, motorcycles for sale. Also, there are several other sites, some of which are purely devoted to Harley products, while others stock all motorcycle brands' merchandise.

Auction sites are another way that you can try to buy Harley Davidson clothes and products. A winning bid will ensure your special item is delivered straight to you for a small postage fee.

Aside from clothing, there are websites that offer a range of jewellery and accessories that would top off your new gear nicely - helmets, caps, watches, necklaces, earrings and sunglasses, just to name a few.

Also, if you are looking to enhance the performance of your motorcycle or simply need to replace a part, Harley Davidson parts and accessories are widely available, both online and offline.

A great place to find out more about Harley Davidson clothes and other accessories is at http://www.AboutHarleyDavidsonMotorcycles.com where you can also download a heap of interesting stuff about these classic motorcycles.

Psychology of Crossdressing - Why Men Wear Dresses

Thousands of men worldwide are, at this very moment, putting on their pantyhose, dresses, makeup, and high heels, trying to look as pretty and as feminine as they can. The sight of a grown man wearing a dress, in many societies is considered odd, or unusual, and may even be a cause for ridicule. This phenomenon is often misunderstood, and often yields the question, "Why would men want to wear clothing of the opposite sex?" "Are these men perverted, or crazy?" "Are they gay?"

First, let me assure you that this phenomenon occurs in all the countries of the world, and is often referred to as transvestism, or crossdressing. Transvestism is defined as "the practice of dressing and behaving like the opposite sex." Men who choose to dress as females, come from all ethnic groups, and from all walks of life.

Furthermore, they are neither perverted, nor crazy. These individuals could be your next door neighbor, your boss, or even your brother. The man sitting next to you at church could be wearing panties and a garter belt under his clothes for all you know. Crossdressing is actually quite common, but it is most often done in private or as a secret that is hidden from others. Although, more and more men are "coming out" and dressing "en femme." In fact, there are conventions where males of different ages and backgrounds, get together to enjoy the freedom of dressing and socializing as females. These conventions may draw hundreds of crossdressers.

Why would men do this, you might ask? Well, the fact of the matter is that they choose to crossdress for many reasons. The reasons vary according to the individual.

One common reason that men choose to crossdress, is for sexual gratification. They may get sexually exited with the feel of the feminine fabrics and clothing on their body. They may enjoy the sexual excitement that they experience from wearing feminine clothing, and in seeing their feminine image.

Another reason for crossdressing, is that men want to feel free to express the feminine side of their personality. Boys are commonly socialized to believe that they cannot portray feminine traits. They can't cry, appear weak, or be soft. Males who dress in female clothing often feel liberated to express their emotions that perhaps, they are not able to freely express as themselves. For at least a few moments, they can shed the burdens and responsibilities of being a "man." Often, this results in feelings of comfort, and reduced stress. Men wear dresses because it feels good.

Perhaps a reason for crossdressing is one that is not often expressed, but is one that I believe is common. The reason that men wear dresses, is to feel and experience the "power of a woman." What power is this? It is the power of a beautiful woman to be able to turn the heads of all the men as she enters the room. It is the power that lingerie models have when they appear on television, and spontaneously create a sensation in the groins of thousands of the men who are watching. It is the power to choose who will get their attention, and perhaps who will mate with them. It is a power that is biologically linked and has allowed the human race to propagate.

One reason that men crossdress is to feel this power, and to experience what it is to have the attributes that create this power. This may be similar to the man who puts on the power suit and expensive shoes, sits behind a big desk in the office on the twentieth floor overlooking the city, pretending he is the chief executive officer of a multi-million dollar corporation. He pretends for a day to be the top man, the millionaire corporate mogul who makes the choices. People open doors for him, bring him coffee, and open their wallets for him. This is "power" and it is very stimulating and intoxicating.

Women are also very powerful. Women are very powerful, sexually. They know this, and men know this. It is equally stimulating and intoxicating to experience this type of power for a day. Even if it is only for a moment, and within the man's head, it is a beautiful feeling to feel "sexy" and "feminine." Power as we all know, is an aphrodisiac. This is why men wear dresses, and why this practice has occurred for centuries.

Unfortunately, in many societies crossdressing, especially male to female, is often still a taboo. A man wearing a dress, or other feminine attire in public is often the subject of ridicule. It is the purpose of this article to create acceptance, and to portray crossdressing as a normal practice that occurs throughout the world and in many cultures.

How To Dress To Look Thinner

Everyone has certain body features they are not happy with. Some people have larger hips and thighs, while others are heavier in the waist. Regardless of where your "problem" areas are, there are many fashion tricks you can use to minimize their appearance. Here are several tips on how to dress to look thinner.

The general rule is to wear clothing that gives your body a more symmetrical, or straight, look. If you wear clothing that is too small, your bulges will be emphasized. If you wear clothes that are too large, you will look bigger because you are adding bulk. Regardless of what your shape is, wearing diagonal stripes, zig-zags and similar patterns can detract from problem areas.

If you are heavier on the bottom, such as hips and thighs, there are several styles that will make you look thinner. Straight or bootcut pants deemphasize larger hips and thighs, giving a more symmetrical look. Wear prints only on the top and wear long tops that go past your hips. Also, look for jackets, tailored suits and shirtwaist dresses with straight, classic cuts.

If your waistline is your heaviest area, choose a dress with a high waistline (called an empire waist) because it will make your waist appear smaller. Avoid bulky scarves and belts that draw attention to your waist. Also, avoid pleats because they pull when you move and won't make you look thinner.

If you are heavier on the top, such as your arms, try a pleated skirt - it will bring more attention to your lower half. Choose thin fabrics, such as cotton, that won't add bulk. Long jackets without shoulder pads will balance your overall look.

Using these tips on how to dress to look thinner will give you a more symmetrical look.

How to Dress on a First Date

A picture can be worth a thousand words, as can an outfit. As much as people would like to pretend that they are not judgmental and do not formulate opinions based on the appearance of others, this is rarely the case, especially in the world of dating. Choosing what to wear is an important consideration on any date but most especially the first date. Choice of clothing can say a lot about a person so one must be sure their clothes are saying all of the right things, or at least not the wrong things. Here are some times to help you figure out how to dress on a first date.

For girls it is important to strike a good balance between sexy and classy when dressing for a first date. While a woman does not want her date to be reminded of his third grade librarian when he sees her, she should also want him to be looking at her eyes for most of the date and not have them meandering southward every other second. Dressing appropriate to the temperature is also important because anyone looks ridiculous wearing a halter top in thirty degree weather while a sweater and jean combination in the middle of a heat wave will have a girl more than just "glowing" from warmth. Achieving a happy medium is rather easy to do as a button up sweater makes almost any dress appropriate and a tasteful, somewhat fancy shirt can dress up jeans perfectly. Girls must also be aware of shoe height. Depending on the height and self confidence of their date it is advisable for a woman to try and be as close to their guy's height as possible, obviously excluding large height disparities. This should definitely factor in as you decide how to dress on a first date.

Guys do not have quite the same concerns about getting dressed as girls but it is an equally important aspect of the date that they must consider. When deciding how to dress on a first date a man needs to dress as stylishly as he can while not being too flashy or totally abandoning his personal sense of style. Depending on where the first date is going to happen he has to put together an outfit that resides between extremely fancy and super casual. Avoiding three piece tuxedos and board shorts, a guy has a pretty healthy range of clothing options to choose from.

Ladies must also bear in mind this need to dress in relation to the level of sophistication of the first date. If the first date is taking place at a baseball game then she should feel free to wear jeans and flip flops, but maybe spice it up with some nicely done hair and a zip up sweater instead of a pull over hoodie. An art gallery would require both sides of the date to class it up a bit but not teeter over to the side of ball gowns and tailcoats. When totally at a loss for what to wear it is best to just go for a neutral outfit while adding bits of personal flair to make it unique, whether that be funky earrings or an obscure band t-shirt. As important as clothes are on a first date it is important to remember to focus more on who is on the other side of the table than who made their jeans.

You might not be bold enough to do just that but you can do a lot to add on to a man's effort. You can help a lot to have fun by flirting with men. Flirting tips for women dictate that you should stop being too shy and also you should learn to give the right responses. To flirt with a man is not easy but if you like him be careful not to send out the wrong signals.

To flirt with a man successfully, you actually need flirting tips for women. Knowledge is power and it will always give you success. Among the tips used when it comes to flirting with men is that you should dress to look your best. As a woman looking sexy is important so if you are the type of women who are comfortable with dressing outrageously and seductively, go for it. However if you happen to be more subtle, you can also flirt with a man since seduction is not all about revealing too much of your skin. Make the best use out of your clothing assets. A flattering dress or a fitting jeans can serve to turn on a guy simply by giving a clue of what lies beneath the fabric.

The most valued flirting tips for women is for them to be at most feminine. If you behave like a lady you will off course be subconsciously flirting with men around you. If you are blessed with a provocative walk use it as you sway your hips. You can either flirt with a man by holding his gaze or literally looking away shyly. Let him get the message that you are interested before you stop stealing glances. Some men are just reticent so give him enough reason to approach you. He may delay to come to you on lame pretext, so assist him by either moving closer to him but do not make it too obvious.

Flirting with men can be tricky so do not do all the work. Men like doing the pursuing so give him a chance. Provided you have lead him on, wait as he makes the advances. To flirt with a man successfully, be careful not to lead him where you cannot go. Do not direct him then leave him out in the cold. Most women fall into emotional traps so easily without having to get to know the guy first. You need flirting tips for women if you trust a man blindly. Women are lucky to possess an instinctive feeling about something. According to your gut instincts, you should be able to tell whether the man is trustworthy or not. When flirting with men, either hold inhibitions or let them go depending on how comfortable you feel with the man. Flirt with a man by using tinkling laughs to stroke his ego.

Observing Best Man Speech Etiquette

Best man speeches can usually get boring and dull during wedding receptions as they most of the time carry the same old messages best men want to convey to a newlywed couple. However for some couples, boring speeches are actually things to be thankful for as there are many more things that can go wrong during best man speeches. People who usually get to stand on the podium to deliver a message to the bride and groom sometimes go overboard and in the end only hurts the message to want to say. This is due to the lack of knowledge of the proper things to do when put in such a position. This is typically true with best men, who because of their familiarity with the groom or the bride tend to be overly humorous and ultimately becomes annoying at times during the occasion especially during the best man speech.

The best man is usually called upon and counted on to deliver an astonishing speech for the bride and groom about their new life together and is intended to be an inspiring force the couple's future. Sometimes though, we become overly zealous and end up giving our listeners the wrong message to our listeners. The best man speech etiquette needs to be observed when going up to podium to speak your mind about the bride and groom. Obviously, you need to be positive when speaking about the occasion while constantly checking to make sure you do not sound monotonous and boring to the crowd. Another thing a best man needs to watch out for is avoiding being overly humorous bordering on hysterical with unnecessary jokes which are mostly interpreted as a lack of concern and disrespect for the bride and groom and their families. This one of the most important things to keep in mind and avoid, when trying to observe best man speech etiquette. The last thing one needs to avoid as the best man is to always be in control of what you say and do come speech time. Excessive intake of alcohol may have negative effects on your personality and may cause you to do unnecessary things that otherwise you would not do if you were sober. This will not only ruin your chance at presenting a good speech but will also damage any relationship you had with the bride and groom in the first place. Always remember that as an important part of the wedding ceremony and an important person in the bride and groom's life they expect you to show just why they chose you as the best man by practicing best man speech etiquette when you're called upon to deliver your speech.

The best man speech, as one of the most anticipated parts of the wedding reception must always be treated with respect as also being a form of respect for the newlywed couple. Hence it is important to always practice best man speech etiquette to help enrich the relationship between you as a best man and the couple which will ultimately lead to a better atmosphere and a more enjoyable time at the reception.

7 Top Tips For Choosing Your Maternity Wedding Dress

Tip 1: Your Maternity Wedding Dress Style

So ... here's the BIG question ... "How far along will you be on your wedding day?" If you will still be in the early months of your pregnancy on your wedding day, you may not need maternity wedding dress tips or even a  maternity wedding dress. You might just get away with a slightly larger size dress in the style you love already.

Do you have a good dressmaker on hand for last minute alterations? Double check with her that your dress can be altered or let out where needed before you buy or order anything ... because you can't predict how fast your bump will grow or how you will carry your baby. Ball gowns and dresses with a tight bodice are not generally very comfortable or flattering for pregnant brides-to-be because they'll emphasize your expanding middle! Best to steer clear!

Empire line gowns and A-line dresses look fabulous on most pregnant women thanks to their loose structure which creates a beautiful silhouette. "Proper" maternity wedding dresses aren't second best ... they are beautiful! Designers understand the modern pregnant bride's desire to look fabulous and there are some amazing maternity wedding dresses to choose from ... whatever your budget.

 2. Where will you be tying the knot?

Brides usually choose a long formal gown for a religious ceremony although long gowns are equally suited for civil celebrations too. If you're planning a small or informal civil or beach maternity wedding, maybe you will prefer a shorter, less structured dress?

There are no hard and fast rules ... it's all about you finding a maternity wedding dress that makes you feel great on your big day!

3. Enhance your beautiful blooming figure!

Traditional brides look for a dress to enhance their natural assets and as a pregnant bride, that's just what you should do too. So, here are some physical considerations before choosing your pregnancy wedding dress

  • What shoes will you be comfortable in and how will your chosen dress look with the wedding shoes you plan to wear?

  • Do you have a great cleavage ... why not show it off?

  • Would you like a strappy or strapless gown? Think about the width of your maternity bra straps ...will you be able to cope with a strapless bra for the day or do you really need a bit more support?

  • Do you want to hide your baby bump?

  • Are your arms toned and beautiful or would you like to hide them away? Would you be happier with a dress that has sleeves if you've gained weight on your arms in your pregnancy. What about a stylish wrap or bolero jacket?

4. Fabulous Fabrics

You should think as carefully about the fabric of your maternity wedding dress as the style of the dress itself, especially when thinking about the season of your wedding. The same dress in different wedding dress fabrics will look and feel quite different. It will certainly drape quite differently around your body.

5. Think about the colour of your gown!

Traditional western brides have married in white: the colour of maidenhood and purity. Today white is simply considered to be the colour that represents joy.  As a pregnant bride, you CAN wear white if you want to ... if you want to inject a little colour, you can do that too!

Natural shades such as champagne, ivory, grey and very light pastels are always popular, but striking reds, blues, pinks and black are very fashionable. It's your wedding ... and as a twenty first century bride ... you really can have exactly the colour scheme you want.  And if you love bold colour, but want a traditional coloured maternity wedding dress, why not introduce your chosen colour with your flowers and accessories?

6. Your bridegroom, attendants and guests

Once you've found your dream maternity wedding gown, it's time to think about the other key people who will take part in your maternity wedding!

  • What ideas do you have about wedding attire for your husband-to-be, the best man and the ushers?

  • How would you like your bridesmaids, flower girls or page boys to look?

As you're working to a tight time budget with a maternity wedding, don't forget to keep it simple ... and accept help when it is offered to you!

7. Preserving Your Maternity Wedding Gown, Once the Big Day is Over!

After you've spent time and thought selecting your maternity wedding gown, you'll probably want to hold on to it for sentimental reasons. If it is properly, professionally cleaned and preserved,  your wedding gown can last for years to come. What a wonderful and meaningful keepsake to share with your family in the years ahead!

Men's Dress Shirt Features

A tailored dress shirt is an important feature of formal wear. But what are the features of a man's dress shirt? What differentiates a dress shirt from any other shirt? A men's dress shirt has 6 basic features, each of which will be discussed individually in this article.

Buttons

Buttons are perhaps the most distinctive feature which makes a dress shirt a dress shirt. In order to be a dress shirt, it must open in the middle and have buttons running from the collar down to the waist. Every tailored dress shirt has at least seven buttons on the front, regardless of size. Some high end shirts will have eight buttons, but seven is the norm. Oftentimes shirts will also have buttons on the collar and cuffs, although this is not a requirement.

Collars

Another key feature of the men's dress shirt is the collar. Having a collar is a must, however collar styles do vary. Some examples of collar types are: the Windsor, which has a wide spread at the edges and is named after the Duke of Windsor, a Straight Collar which has a very narrow spread between the edges of the collar, or the Tony, a highly formal collar which covers the entire neck as well as the knot of the tie. Some collars are also buttoned to the shirt; these are called "Button-down" collars.

Cuffs

Next in line of tailored dress shirt features are the cuffs. These are the sections of the shirt which cover the wrists. There are two main styles of cuff: the barrel cuff, in which the sides of the cuff overlap and button one on top of the other, and the French cuff in which the edges of the cuff are pulled out to the side and linked together there.

Placket

The placket is a feature related to the buttons of the tailored dress shirt. It is the strip which runs down the front of a man's dress shirt where the button holes are sewn. The standard width of a placket is 1.5 inches. It is generally sewn fairly finely so as to be as unnoticeable as possible, although some different variations of plackets do exist.

Pleats

Pleats are not a universal feature of a tailored dress shirt, however most dress shirts do have them. A pleat is a part of the shirt where the fabric is folded back over itself. Generally pleats are found on the either side of the back of the shirt. For less formal wear, there is a single box pleat in the middle of the back. Pleats are also often found on the sleeves just above the cuff. Pockets

Pockets are another feature of the tailored dress shirt which is not universal. In some places formal shirts do not include pockets at all; however a single pocket on the left side of the shirt is common in many places such as the United States. Occasionally these pockets can be buttoned shut; even more rarely they come with a cover flap.

Funny Best Man Toast

When you are asked to speak as best man in a wedding, you will probably be asked to inject humor through jokes in your speech. Beware, however, since humor can be the double-edged sword with which you can reduce guests to tears either in laughter or in sadness. Of course, you want the guests and the bridal couple to smile and laugh at your jokes!

With that being said, here are tips on choosing appropriate jokes to incorporate in your best man speech.

Fit the Joke with the Speech

You must choose a joke that fits the general theme and tone of your speech. Don't use a joke just because you find it funny albeit off-tangent to your speech since you will leave your audience feeling annoyed, bored and confused.

Of course, it does not have to be a joke since a humorous story or a funny anecdote about the couple or about your relationship with them as an introduction to your speech will also elicit the laughter you want. Just make sure that you don't offend the sensibilities of the couple and of the guests with your choice of jokes.

Fit the Joke with the Audience

Every individual has a unique sense of humor engendered by his/her cultural background, religious orientation, social status and age. As such, your jokes must be sufficiently neutral such that sense and sensibilities as well as pride and prejudices will not be offended. It can seem like a difficult thing to do but with the myriad of "safe" jokes out there, you can certainly find one to fit the audience.

No matter the audience, however, vulgar jokes about sex and sexuality as well as race and religion should be avoided. Regardless of the fact that a wedding can be a start to procreation doesn't mean that you can make jokes about sex. There is a place for that and it is called the stag party.

Choose Fresh Jokes

Although you may use jokes from online sources, text messages and books, drawing upon your own personal experiences make it fresher than most. Besides, you can deliver the joke in a more confident manner because you know of it intimately!

And speaking of confidence, you have to tell your joke with a straight face, or if you must make a facial expression, a smile. Neither preface the joke with a laughing face because then you cannot tell it straight and the humor will be lost on your audience nor introduce it by saying "Let me tell you a joke about the groom" because then you are cluing in your audience about it. Just tell it and get it over with.

And speaking of over, when you have told the joke and the audience doesn't laugh, just go on as if they did. When you expect the audience to laugh at your joke, you will soon find that either the laughs are tepid or that the joke is on you.
